From union leader to media sensation over night!!!

www.bdlive.co.za/national/labour/201307/29
If you only knew Zwelinzima Vavi as a  union leader and the man who has been able to postpone e-tolling for the longest time, two weeks ago you got to know him a little more than that. It was a rather nippy Sunday morning In Johannesburg when we woke up to breaking news and trending topics on social networks. Enews, News 24,The Sunday Times and other Sunday news papers had broke the news that The secretary general of Cosatu the biggest labour union in South Africa had been having extra marital affair with a collegue.

Why was this so big? Why did it make headlines for two weeks and even become a big enough case to get the man recalled from his position as Secretary General of Cosatu? By now you would think South Africans  are used to reading or hearing about politicians or high profiled businssmen having extramarital affairs. Its common in South African politics, why is it then this story had so much hype and sensationalism around it? Could this have been a PR strategy by Vavi since there have been rumors of him starting his own political party in the near future or could this have been a strategy to draw eyes to himself for when he moves into parliament so that he does not go in without any loyal followers? These are the questions that emerge when reading about this story in the media or on social networks. Times have been tough for Vavi in the past couple of months he needed to make a move that could make or break him. This may have damaged his reputation or enough to expose those he says are out to get him which could be his step ladder up the food chain again.

Fact is what he did is a private matter between him and his wife not the public.

  6. im asking myself why people keep on saying he must step down? to tell the truth Vavi is nt wrong because if he was wrong the woman was not going to drop the charges and she was not going to demand money as well. even people can keep on saying that maybe bribe the woman to drop the charges, me as i woman i say that there is no money that can keep me silent for a rape. no one is perfect so the public must get out of the case and the families handle thise matter because even the woman was married.
